19th Annual MWACC - Chicken Express All-Star Basketball Classic Huge Success

The 19th Annual Mineral Wells Area Chamber of Commerce Chicken Express All-Star Basketball was a great success with over 20 college scouts in attendance as well as the capacity crowd there to support their favorite All-Star.  This year the exciting 3-point-shooting contest winners were Trisha Tuck from Stephenville High School and Dusty Russell from Peaster High School.  These student athletes shot their way to the top and now Nancy and Richard Stuart, owners of Chicken Express, will send a check toward their tuition at the colleges these "big shots" attend next fall.

The Girls game was an aggressive and exciting with the East Girls coming out on top with 86 points and the West, 64. MVP for the East Team was Lacey Oates of Decatur High School and for the West Team was Mitzi Miller of Santo High School.

The Boys game was one of showing off some skills by both teams.  The East fared well with a whopping 92 points and the West with 85.  It was an exciting game one which neither team will soon forget!  MVP for the East Team was Kyle Spitzer of Peaster High School and MVP for the West was Taylor Chamness of Graham High School.

This game, in its 19th year, has afforded many of these small school All-Stars a chance to be scouted by local and not so local colleges and universities throughout the years.  Chairman of the Athletic Committee, Bill Raffaele has helped to make this the most respected event of its kind in the North Texas Area.

Pictured along with the winners and MVPs are the ever helpful Ball Girls and Ball Boys.  Girls are Brie Ruelas, Addie Hopkins, Alana Holly and Reagan Raffaele. Boys are Stefon Sandoval, Trent Guinn, Cameron Weiss and Seth Holly.  Thanks to the kids and their parents for allowing them to help us out with the big half-time show!

A giant thank you needs to be extended to Nancy and Richard Stuart of Chicken Express for their tireless efforts in making this event happen for 19 years! Without your continued support, these athletes may never be discovered! And this year a thank you is extended to the Mineral Wells Wal-Mart Store for their generous donation toward the hospitality room.
